Sandhill Crane Festival

This is a tour of a lifetime! Yes, it's at the crack of dawn but Tour Leader Ron Kruegar says it's a trip you won't want to miss! Here's a little overview on this tour... Sandhill cranes have been around for millions of years, and their migratory rituals are virtually unchanged.  The cranes, in our flyway, spend winters in California and spend a week or so in the Othello area in the spring while on their journey to nesting sites in Alaska. After we have breakfast in Ritzville (on your own), we'll spend the morning with Roger Krueger looking for the majestic Sandhill cranes.  With any luck we should see over a thousand. We'll have lunch in Othello, (on your own).  The first half of the afternoon we'll be at the festival where we'll see captivating live raptors brought in from WSU; hear presentations by experts on topics related to the local wildlife and geology; and visit the vendor booths. We'll visit fascinating Palouse Falls on our way home.
