Billiards

Corbin hosts two billiard tables where you can enjoy a fun game of pool.  Enjoy with your friends, come to meet a friend or come for a relaxing solo game! The pool room is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm for members to enjoy. $1.00 donation to play!

China Painters

Do you love to paint while appreciating the beauty of fine porcelain?  Join the China Painters at the Corbin Senior Center for an artistic expression of beauty. The China Painters meet once a month and membership includes dues to the local club, state organization and the world organization.  In addition, it includes 4 yearly issues of The China Painter Magazine. Dues are $55 per year and new members are welcome!

Cribbage

Cribbage, or crib, is a card game traditionally for two players, but commonly played with three, four or more, that involves playing and grouping cards in combinations which gain points. Cribbage has several distinctive features: the cribbage board used for score-keeping, the eponymous crib or box (a separate hand counting for the dealer), two distinct scoring stages (the play and the show) and a unique scoring system including points for groups of cards that total fifteen.

Discovering Charles Dickens

Explore the fascinating life story of Charles Dickens while engaging in literary discussions as you read through one of his lesser-known novels. Track Dickens from his humble beginning to his achievements as one of the great 19th century writers. Broaden your exposure to his literary genius by reading The Old Curiosity Shop.

Foot Care

Our feet travel a million miles over a lifetime and it's time to give them the tender loving care they desire.  Join Corbin on the third Thursday of every month for foot care to massage and take care of what ails your feet.  Call to set up an appointment as slots are limited.  Cost is $15 per session.

Fruit Tree Pruning

For optimal production, fruit trees require trimming. Learn how to trim your trees to improve fruit production and quality. Whatever will you do with all those apples and pears?

Intro to Drawing

Whether you have ever picked up an artist's pencil in your life, teacher Jaquan Tracey will take students on a 6 week guided tour towards expressing your artistic side.  With small class sizes and personalized instruction, this class is perfect the senior looking to take up the art of expressing the heart and story of your life.  There is a $25 supply fee per 6 week session.  No need to sign up, just stop by during class time with heart to learn.

Line Dancing

Whether you've always wanted to learn it or consider your a line dance pro, join your friends at Corbin for a morning of movement, rhythm, and fun.  The instructors will walk you through the steps and you'll feel confident to hit the dance floor anywhere after these classes.  Classes hosted by Corbin and taught through ACT 2 of Spokane Community College.  New arrivals welcome!

Mexican Train

Mexican Train is a game played with dominos. The object of the game is for a player to play all the dominoes from his or her hand onto one or more chains, or "trains", emanating from a central hub or "station". The game's most popular name comes from a special optional train that belongs to all players. However, the game can be played without the Mexican Train; such variants are generally called "Private Trains" or "Domino Trains".  Cost 0.50 cents per person

Monday Night Dance

After a lifetime of cutting a rug from one era of music to the next, join this active group of seniors every Monday night for light refreshments, a great live band, and all the dancing you can handle.  All ages welcome and no need to sign up ahead of time.  Just show up Mondays at 7:00pm for a great evening of fun. Cost $4 per person.

Old School Gardening

How did your great-great grandparents grow food for their families? No fantasies of Victorian rose gardens here; learn about 19th century American gardening techniques, tools and garden crops (Cardoon, anyone?).

Pilates – Yoga Strength

Enjoy a hybrid, athletic workout that incorporates the principles of sports stretch, strength training, conditioning, movement and balance. The goal is to increase your strength, flexibility and balance, along with reducing stress and improving your overall fitness level. Students must be able to sit, stand and kneel. Bring a mat and water. Class hosted by Corbin and led by ACT 2 of Spokane Community College.

Pinochle

Pinochle is a trick taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. It is derived from the card game bezique; players score points by trick-taking and also by forming combinations of cards into melds. It is thus considered part of a "trick-and-meld" category which also includes a cousin, belote. Each hand is played in three phases: bidding, melds, and tricks. Cost 0.50 cents per person!

Scrabble

If you consider yourself a competitive wordsmith, then you'll want to join our Friday afternoon round of Scrabble.  The classic game that pits ones wit and knowledge of the dictionary is a house favorite and is sure wrap up your week with joy.  Who knows, you might even a learn a new word or two before its done!  Cost is 0.50 cents per person.

For years gardeners practiced successful methods to growing plants for function and beauty. Learn how to make and use your own potting soil, start and transplant baby vegetable greens, and other cost saving ideas.

Silver Cafe

In partnership with Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels, Corbin serves as a congregate site for seniors looking to get an affordable bite to eat among the fellowship of fellow Spokane Seniors. Open Monday thru Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, one can come and go as they please during operating hours. Cost is $3.85 for a full meal and the monthly menu can be found here at http://www.gscmealsonwheels.org/menus-1

Spokane and the First World War

Spokane, as a hub of the Inland Empire, played a little known, but important role in the First World War, even before the U.S. entered the conflict in April 1917. Discover how Spokane prepared, as America geared up to fight The War To End All Wars. Spokane changed overnight, with women entering the workforce, food rationing, Victory Gardens, a universal draft, censorship, and the search for spies and subversives. Especially important, was the need to protect from sabotage the local production of wheat, timber, and minerals - all essential components of the war effort. Using original sources, learn how Spokane responded to major social changes as the war raged in Europe.

Tap Grandmas

Examine Lincoln's uses of Presidential power and their example to the men that have followed him in office since.

Wii Bowling

Who says video games are just for kids? Utilizing the Nintendo Wii, Corbin members can enjoy a competitive heart felt game of bowling.  The motion activated system recreates the motions of actual bowling ensuring persons of all physical health levels and hit the lanes.  Call Mary Kay on Wednesday afternoons to plug in your spot for this fun activity.

World War 2: Fall of Berlin and the Last Days of Germany

Finally, in this last quarter of WW2, we will follow the Allied armies into Berlin and witness the fall of Nazi Germany. How did the big 3 divide up Berlin and the world. We will discuss what happened to some of the generals we have been following and come to a final conclusion of the outcome of WW2. Yoga Chair

Grab a chair and enjoy a unique yoga experience.  Use chairs and standing modifications of yoga, focusing on safety, and combine balance and flexibility poses with stretching, breathing exercises, seated meditation and relaxation.  This class is appropriate for those with joint pain, joint replacement or back pain, or those finishing rehabilitation.  Class hosted by Corbin and led by ACT 2 of Spokane Community College.
