REVISED LASER LIGHT SHOW
Thursday, June 20 ~ 4:30pm-12:30pm Tour Leader: Ron Krueger **Moderate

Thursday, July 11 ~ 4:30pm—12:30pm 2 DATES
The laser light show that had been showing at Grand Coulee Dam had never been updated. As a result, much of the information in it was outdated and some was just plain incorrect. So after 25 years and at a cost of 1.6 million, the new laser light show will be on top at the dam this summer. It boasts brighter colors and better sound. We'll begin our tour by driving to Dry Falls, an ecological and historical masterpiece. During the last Ice Age, when a finger of ice diverted the Columbia River south, this was the largest waterfall the world has even known. 3 1/2 miles wide and 400 feet high. Niagara Falls would look puny next to it. But today no river flows over the falls, thus the name "Dry Falls". The we'll drive north in the Grand Coulee itself, on a road paralleling Banks Lake. You'll learn the story of the lake and how it greatly benefits agriculture in the Columbia Basin. After dinner (on your own) in Coulee Dam, we'll go to the visitor center and grab a seat and get ready to watch the new laser light show. If the weather in inclement, we'll drive to the top of a cliff to watch the show. We'll be able to listen to the narrative music on the radio of our nice warm van.
Price: $23.00 (member) $28.50 (non-member) Includes transportation and tour leader.

At the museum we can see what early life (early 20th century) was like on this stretch of the lake. We can also view an interesting, short video of life on the lake. And we can see a fascinating display devoted to Nell Shipman, actress, screenwriter, producer, director and animal trainer; she made several films along Priest Lake.  After we visit the museum, we'll travel back to Spokane via spirit Lake. There we'll visit one of Ron's favorite ice cream stores. We can also see the mural and read the legend, depicting how Spirit Lake got its name.

MOON PASS I
Thursday, July 25 ~ 8am-5:30pm Tour Leader: Ron Krueger *Easy
One of the most scenic drives in the Northwest has to be the drive over Moon Pass in Idaho. The elevation of Moon Pass is 4946 feet; by comparison, Lookout Pass on the Idaho-Montana border is just 4680 feet. After leaving Corbin, our first stop will be in Coeur d'Alene for coffee. Then we head east, almost to the Cataldo Mission. We'll turn south and drive to St. Maries (which in itself is a beautiful drive). Then we'll head east to Calder and Avery-with the St. Joe River on your right the whole way. After we leave Avery, we'll take an unpaved road up, up to Moon Pass and enjoy paralleled scenery. After we surmount the pass, we'll drip into Wallace. Lunch (on your own) will be in Wallace. There will be amole time after lunch to take in some of the sights in this historic town-and perhaps enjoy a fantastic huckleberry malt or milk shake at one of Ron's favorite places. The road over moon Pass is open only a few months a year. If you haven't done this drive, you're in for a treat. If you have a camera, this will be a photo-op tour. Birders may want bring their binoculars. We will make unscheduled stops when there’s something to see or photograph.
